The Chevrolet Bel Air evolved into one of the classic motor cars of the era. Announced in 1950 as a sporty 2-door hardtop, it had a 6-cylinder engine and Powerglide automatic transmission. By 1953 the Bel Air name was extended to a 4-door saloons plus a convertable. After a smart re-style in 1955, Chevrolet arrived at the classic shape, with subtle fins and cleaner lines. The Bel Air became the Chevy ‘top of the range’ model to compete ‘head on’ with the Fairlane. Powered by 6-cylinder and V-8 engines, it was the installation of the 212kW (285bhp) fuel injected engine which delivered real performance. Scale 1:34 x 13.5cm long
